'Jiggers of Hope'

by Kevin Austin

Tells a story of survival within the ruins, picking up the pieces following the terrible ordeal of the WW2 1940 to 1942 'Blitz'. Symbolized by ordinary lives resuming some normality with peace. Mother hangs out the washing on the line and grandad tends to his prized pigeons whilst his newly liberated POW son Jimmy is back at home. Young kids at the wheel of abandoned cars absorbed in their imaginative destinations whilst teenage boys hatch up a new bit of mischief. Theres two local teams playing for goals between jumpers for posts where nearby the mighty Liverpool Anglican Cathedral stands with minor war wounds.
